Delays
Exeter University Lemon Grove – 28 April 2006
Quite how Delays haven't yet become globe-trotting, jet-setting international rock stars is a mystery that we may never find a satisfactory answer to. Here is a band that both rocks and rolls in equal measure; that is propelled along by a tight-as-duck's-ass live mix of pounding drums and runaway basslines; a four-piece that write textbook three-minute pop classics exquisitely topped off by Greg Gilbert's hair-raising falsetto vocals; and yet, somehow, here are Delays playing to a half full Lemon Grove at Exeter University, in a city that generally suffers from a drought of top quality acts. Why oh why is a band this good still treading the boards of the gigging circuit's equivalent of the Nationwide Conference? Answers on a postcard please...
