Football Manager 2006
SEGA / Sports Interactive, PC, £29.99 - Out 21 October 2005
Football Manager 2006 is here! From the guys who brought you the original Championship Manager, FM 2006 is the second in the series from Sports Interactive in partnership with Sega. After the impressive 2005 instalment, you know that SI have a great package to build on for this release, but the big question that needs answering (as it always does with footie management sims) is whether this is a brand new game or simply FM 2005 with new players? And will it remain engrossing enough to ensure the coursework still doesn't get done?
FM 2006 boasts new additions to game play, mainly in terms of media and player interaction, featuring 270,000 players and staff, and 5,000 playable teams in 50 different countries. The game is huge, with endless pages of player stats and training regimes to tweak, plus the addition of an all new tutorial, ideal for footie sim junkies and virgins alike. It is, to be honest, pretty much the same as 2005. But don't be discouraged, the new additions to gameplay mean there's enough here to ensure you'll spend hours in front of your PC instead of in the library doing your research. Review by James Cocks
