The Waterboys
Colston Hall , Bristol – 20 April 2007
Setting that fiddle to ‘frenzied' and that keyboard to ‘bombastic', the ‘boys are back in town. Mike Scott's semi-legendary Waterboys that is. Swinging into Bristol for the first leg of a mammoth UK tour, the group hit Colston Hall running, blowing up a storm in their wake. Oldies and newbies rock the audience of old and new fans alike, with choice cuts from recent, return-to-form LP Book of Lightning rubbing shoulders with classics like Glastonbury Song and, of course, Whole of the Moon. The set sags a little around three-quarters of the way through, but any band willing to perform pretty much non-stop for two and a half hours can only be applauded. Mike Scott and Co certainly offer up value for money entertainment.
