Lorraine, The Feeling
Aura, Taunton – 16 February 2006
previous page... So onto the main event… well, not quite. Because the Feeling are waiting, stage left, but there's a techie problem and the roadies just aren't ready for them. There's nothing as good at destroying your studied nonchalant cool than having to sit by the stage entrance for ten minutes biting your nails whilst the road crew go through their extensive repertoire of one-twos, and it throws the Feeling fellas off balance for the first few songs. Chances are, their single Sewn will already have your ears in an armlock by now, but don't go thinking its Snow Patrol-covering-Athlete aesthetic is what the Feeling are about, oh no. The rest of their delayed set is more balls-out AM radio rock than skinny indie boy sop, and – after that slow start – it's all the better for it. Alas, Taunton remains unmoved and it's not until the first bars of Sewn chime out that they win back the crowd at the bar. The Feeling had their thunder stolen by their support band and their roadies tonight.
